The New Commission on the Skills of the American Workforce released a report (December, 2006) that proposes radical changes for the American education system and to better prepare students for a global economy. Referencing a Time magazine article written on eve of the report's release, our current global economy requires mastery of core subjects; and what some call 21st century skills. Here's what the authors' said they are:
  • Knowing more about the world;
  • Thinking outside the box;
  • Becoming smarter about new sources of information; and
  • Developing good people skills.
California’s teachers and administrators will need support to teach 21st century skills. A longtime educator in California, I taught in elementary classrooms, founded a distance learning charter school, coordinated technology efforts at district and county levels, and directed federal afterschool programs and a grant supporting technology integration across four states. CUE was always there to support me doing my job and provided numerous networking and growth opportunities.

CUE is more than its conference; more than a publication and website; and more than a discount on software. It is a network of individuals who are dedicated to education, who are creative, who love exploring new technologies, and who most of all enjoy teaching others.

I have served as a CUE affiliate Vice-President, as member and Chair of conference committees, and have a long history service to both CUE and ISTE. If elected to the CUE Board, I will work to shape the organization to meet 21st Century challenges. I ask for your input and support to do so.
