I have been with the Long Beach Unified School District for the past 17 years as an elementary and middle school teacher, district coordinator of the Technology Literacy Challenge Grant, and K-12 Technology Curriculum Leader. I am an active member of the Regional Governance Council for CTAP Region 11, Vice President of a Southern California CUE Affiliate, and currently working on my doctoral dissertation on the changing roles of teachers in classrooms with one-to-one laptops.

I believe that as we venture to prepare our students for the 21st century global workforce, we need to keep in mind that the students in our educational institutions today are Digital Natives, having been born in an era surrounded with digital technologies. In order to keep them engaged, we need to make effective use of emerging technologies in our classrooms and schools. As we all are aware, funding for educational technology in educational institutions has always been a challenge.

If elected to the CUE Board of Directors, I will focus on:
  • Advocacy with the intent of seeking legislation to provide continuous funding for educational technology in all of our schools and districts
  • Providing administrators, teachers and students with emerging technologies to prepare them for a global workforce
  • Ensuring educators are provided with ongoing professional development to meet the needs of their digital native students
Thank you and I look forward to your support.
