I was flattered. Then I was excited. As a mother, I know that every minute in my day counts, so, as I thought more about dedicating my energy toward California and CUE, I knew that now was the time! We must push toward technology rich classrooms and work together to make sure our California students graduate able to “know and do.” Like most Computer Using Educators members, I have dedicated myself to the idea of lifelong learning and helping others. As the Vice President for the Center for Digital Education and as publisher for the award winning Converge magazine, I have the privilege of traveling around the nation building relationships and helping to create positive changes in education. Over the past decade I designed and delivered hundreds of unique education forums, launched the nationally recognized Digital School Board survey, the Digital Community College survey and the Digital Education Leadership Conversation. As a featured speaker at dozens of conferences, I have carried forward the message of the importance technology in our schools. I have served on a number of advisory committees and boards including sitting as an advisor to the US Department of Education’s National Education Technology Plan and an advisory committee member to the US Department of Education’s Virtual Schools Summit. I know my background and ability to connect people, places and ideas will assist CUE with its mission to provide leadership and support to advance student achievement with technology. |
