The Diverse Learners Symposium will expand the outreach of CUE to the Assistive Technology Community and to those seeking to increase their knowledge of Universal Design for Learning and implementation of Assistive Technology supports that expand the world of language and access to learning for students with disabilities. The symposium is part of your full conference registration.

The speakers will join us via a two-way videoconference from CDE in Sacramento and cover topics including funding sources for Assistive Technology and the Digital Textbook Initiative.

Basic Podcasting for Intruction: Audio Podcasts

Learn how to incorporate podcasts into your curriculum to
increase student engagement. The podcasts may be used to create lessons,
monthly newsletters, or provide study prep for unit tests. Participants will explore the different
types of podcasts and how they may be used to support the curriculum. The
session will use Audacity, a free cross-platform sound editor, to create, edit,
and convert their files so that they may publish their podcast.

This is an interactive continuation of Effortless
Assistive Technology in the Classroom, Part 1. In this session, participants
will learn how to use resources such as accessibility tools in MS Word; add
voice narration to presentations, documents and other files; design and create
E-Portfolios; use portable word processors for intervention; and use other
assistive technology tools. Participants who bring their own laptops will be
able to practice during the presentation. Through demonstration and hands-on
experience, participants will be able to use these tools immediately in their
instructional practice.
