The Electronic Magazine: Capstone Project for Digital Arts

At Cathedral City High School, the Digital Arts Technology Academy (DATA) has created an online magazine that merges art with information and print with video to create a literacy project that spans the state standards of visual arts, language arts, and technology. DATA began with a Specialized Secondary Grant from the California Department of Education four years ago and has developed courses in digital imaging, video production, broadcast journalism, and animation. Advanced photography students provide the photos and motion graphics while broadcast journalism students provide the editorial copy and video for a blend of school community news and features wrapped in a visually appealing product of higher order thinking skills.
