She has had the opportunity to be a mentor teacher for Cal Polyís School of Education. In 1991, she served on the first Teacher Advisory Committee for NASA/JPL. Her position as Teacher Specialist has given her the opportunity to train teachers in integrating technology into the curriculum, allowed her the opportunity to write and receive a Challenge Grant, an EETT Competitive Grant, and work with the Microsoft Kñ12 Voucher Program. During this time, she has driven a Mobile Computer Bus and trained students in technology in both private and public schools. For the past eight years, she has been an Advisory Committee member for the Tech Ed Conference and helped to focus the conference on K12 technologies. I received an award from the Community College Foundation for the support of the Effective Use of Technology in Education.

Joyce has been a member of Computer-Using Educators for eleven years. During this time, she was a member of the East San Gabriel Valley CUE affiliate, where she served as its Newsletter Editor for three years and a board member for several years. In 2002, ESGVCUE presented Joyce with their Leadership Award. In 2005, she helped launch the new San Gabriel Valley CUE, a merger of ESGVCUE and ACT CUE, and served as its president for three years. Together with other board members, she has increased the Affiliate membership each year, revived our annual Tech Fair, and established our Saturday Coffee Break Sessions (hands-on workshops held three times per year) and focus on previewing and teaching new technologies. She has also served as a member of the CUE Awards Committee.
