Walnut Creek, Calif., March 8, 2016 -- CUE confirmed today that the top education chief in the state of California will address attendees at the CUE 2016 National Conference. Tom Torlakson will be attending the conference on Thursday, March 17 in the afternoon and then speaking Friday, March 18, at the General session. His remarks will begin at 8:00 am in Oasis 4 at the Palm Springs Convention Center before the General Keynote address given by Hadi Partovi.
“We are thrilled to have California State Superintendent Tom Torlakson again address the attendees of the CUE National Conference,” said Mike Lawrence, CUE’s CEO. “When our conference can provide a platform for the highest ranking education official in the state, we at CUE are both honored and humbled as this visit underscores the importance of professional learning opportunities like the CUE National Conference – as well as the importance of teaching, technology and innovation in California.”
Torlakson, who has placed a top priority on making sure all students learn in 21st century classrooms equipped with a fast connection to the internet, said the conference will highlight technology in education. “This is a great opportunity not only for educators to share their success stories, but also for educators to learn from others about how to use technology in the classroom to prepare students for college and 21st century careers,” he said.
In addition to remarks from Torlakson, featured speakers at the National Conference include keynote presentations from Hadi Partovi, entrepreneur, investor, and co-founder of Code.org; Pearl Arredondo, principal of San Fernando Institute for Applied Media (SFiAM); and Brad Montague, who along with Robby Novak are co-creators of Kid President. Spotlight speakers at the Conference include Hall Davidson, Leslie Fisher, Lisa Highfill, Cindy Moss, Thomas Murray, Luis Perez and Joyce Valenza.
