-- Featuring Student Voices, Student-Produced Media and Hands-on Training for County Administrators --

Walnut Creek, CA., February 2, 2016 -- CUE will be collaborating to produce student-centered  pre-conference activities and a hands-on strand at the Curriculum & Instruction Steering Committee (CISC) Leadership Symposium to be held in Monterey, CA from Feb. 24-26, 2016. CISC is the steering committee of the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association (CCSESA).

CUE will facilitate three student-led panels (six students per session) on Wednesday, Feb. 23 that will showcase students from contemporary classrooms sharing their day-to-day lives, hopes, dreams and educational needs. A short Q&A session with leading educators will follow the student presentations and will address audience questions as well.

Later that evening, former CUE Board Member Hall Davidson will emcee a Student Media Festival featuring some of the very best student films from the 2015 California Student Media Festival. Jon Corippo, CUE's Director of Academic Innovation will round out the evening by sharing amazing lesson plans and launch activities for those districts interested in hosting their own festivals or for those districts looking to make media more effective in their schools.

During the two days of the Symposium, CUE will be on hand to provide 90-minute, Rock Star Jam Sessions, modeled after the popular CUE Rock Star Teacher Camps. Featuring speakers such as Joe Ayala, Rowland Baker, Dr. Barbara Nemko, Dr. Christine Olmstead and CUE CEO Mike Lawrence. Administrators can get a feel for what the full-scale camps are about and what resources are available to educators to make a tangible difference in student success and achievement on their campuses.
