Walnut Creek, Calif., July 10, 2012 -- Computer-Using Educators (CUE) Inc., and the Flipped Learning Network have teamed up to offer a fantastic professional development opportunity for educators in the state of California. Using CUE’s new Learning Tours model, the Flipped Learning Tour will start in San Jose at the Krause Center for Innovation on the campus of Foothill College in Los Gatos and feature a keynote and workshops by Jon Bergmann, one of the pioneers of flipped learning and co-author of the the best-selling Flip Your Classroom: Reach Every Student in Every Class Every Day (ISTE/ASCD, 2012). The tour will then move to Costa Mesa the following day to the Orange County Department of Education. The fee for each one-day session is $199 for CUE members and $239 for non-CUE members (registration includes CUE membership) and includes both a light breakfast and lunch.
Flipped Learning is one of the hottest topics in education today. Educators and administrators are eager to find out how to implement flipped learning within their own classrooms and what measures of success current flipped classrooms have experienced. There is compelling data that shows both teachers and students are benefitting greatly from implementing a flipped learning model. Participants in the one-day events will be shown ways to create their own classrooms and then listen to and share stories with other participants. Prior experience with a flipped classroom is not a requirement!
Danny Silva, CUE’s Professional Development Coordinator, is excited about the Flipped Learning Tour. “Flipped Learning is an amazing new way to achieve success within the classroom. Students love learning topics at their own pace and the teachers love the opportunity to provide more individualized instruction. I think once people see the opportunities involved in flipping their classrooms, this model will be implemented everywhere. We are thrilled for our event participants to see Jon Bergmann show them how to do this firsthand.”
Registration is now open to all teachers, administrators, district personnel or anyone else curious about flipped learning, but seats are filling fast. Registration for either event is now open at www.cue.org/learningtours.
