Marisol Valles, the Organization's Longest-Serving Employee, to Leave CUE

August 14, 2017

Walnut Creek, CA

Marisol VallesAfter 14 years with CUE, Marisol Valles is stepping away from her role as COO/CFO. Her tenure at CUE began when the organization was at its nadir, having cut back from 10 to 2 staff, shrunk to 1,000-2,000 attendee events, cancelling our annual Fall Conference, shutting down affiliates and leveraging the reserve to save the organization after canceling contracts at Anaheim and San Diego Convention Centers.

Through her solid management, keen eye for detail and consistent application of policy, Marisol, in conjunction with CUE Leadership, guided the organization back to fiscal health and managed the onboarding of a new Executive Director, a switch to online payments and paperless registration, digital badge distribution, modernizing our conference Internet, AV and media capture infrastructure, moving offices five times and shifting to a largely remote staff. She represented CUE at ISTE events, at all Convention Center meetings and even the White House. During her tenure, CUE grew from serving 2,000 educators to nearly 30,000 per year.

She oversaw the modernization of CUE systems to allow for innovative growth of existing offerings and new programs to increase CUE’s revenue streams, all the while supporting world-class professional development and quality customer service.

Marisol’s last day at CUE will be Tuesday, August 15. In her absence, CUE will leverage existing staff to manage her duties. CUE board and staff wish Marisol well in her next endeavor. She will be missed.
