Ramsey Musallam to Keynote 2014 eLearning Strategies Symposium

Costa Mesa, Calif., June 3, 2014 — Today, CUE and the Stanislaus County Office of Education announced that Ramsey Musallam will provide the closing keynote for the third annual eLearning Strategies Symposium, a conference dedicated to highlighting and exploring effective strategies for online and blended education.

Ramsey Musallam, a TED Talk alumnus, is a secondary science instructor at Sacred Heart Cathedral in downtown San Francisco and serves as an adjunct professor of education at the University of San Francisco and Touro University. He is the host of the Infinite Thinking Machine, an Internet TV show dedicated to sharing innovative ideas for teachers and students. Ramsey’s TED Talk “3 Rules to Spark Learning” is widely popular with classroom teachers and was the lead talk on TED's first-ever PBS TV premiere, “TED Talks Education.” In his keynote, “Peeking In: Using Technology to Fuel and Measure Student Inquiry," Ramsey will use examples from the classroom, his research and society to explore curiosity as a cognitive construct, a pedagogical tool and surprisingly, an assessment device. Simple resources and instructional strategies used to spark curiosity will be presented, and case studies will be analyzed.

"We’re excited to hear from Ramsey Musallam at eSS,” said CUE’s Executive Director, Mike Lawrence. “He’s an innovative speaker with a passion for online and blended learning, who brings important perspectives to our symposium.”

Early Bird Symposium registration is now open until October 10th. Just $179, registration includes Friday and Saturday sessions and a keynote/lunch on Friday and a closing keynote on Saturday. Groups of two or more who are from the same school, district, or organization may register for $165. San Mateo Marriott rooms for the symposium are just $139 per night.
