As promised to many on the waiting lists, we're posting the iPad in Education workshop resources here at CUE.org. While this is no substitute for being in the room as Steve Dembo (or Robert Craven) leads the session in person, here are the workshop outlines and resources:

CUE is proud to announce that the first iPad in Education workshop was a sold out success at the Leadership 3.0 Symposium in Santa Clara. The next two workshops, on May 12th in the Bay Area and Orange County, are also sold out.

But, two NEW workshops are now open for registration in Visalia (at Fresno Pacific University Visalia Center) and in San Diego (at National University, hosted by SDCUE). The iPad, a "magical and revolutionary device" was announced by Apple CEO Steve Jobs on the morning of January 27. Later that afternoon, CUE announced the iPad in Education workshops! Several workshops are currently open for registration. You may also request a workshop for your site.

CUE produces a series of Google Workshops for Administrators based on the Google Teacher Academy for Administrators. We are happy to announce that ACSA is hosting a special Google Workshop for Educational Leaders at their office in Burlingame on March 27th. This event will include a tour of the Googleplex in Mountain View the evening before the workshop! Seats will go quickly, so sign up now.

CUE runs a series of Google Workshops for Educators based on the Google Teacher Academy, and there has been considerable interest in a workshop focused specifically on school administrators. We are happy to announce that the second Google Workshop for Administrators is now open for registration, this time in Silicon Valley on October 2nd and 3rd. This event is produced in partnership with Google and with the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA). Friday's program includes a tour of the Googleplex in Mountain View and Saturday's program is hosted at the ACSA offices in Burlingame. More...

Through a new partnership with Global Classroom, CUE is excited to offer online courses to its members!  Global Classroom has delivered online professional development to teachers since 2004 and has a wide array of technology-focused courses.  This great benefit is now available to all CUE members.  This partnership will provide low-cost professional development in a flexible online environment to teachers throughout the state.  And a portion of each registration will also help support CUE's mission! Since today is National Teacher Day, we thought it would be the perfect day to announce that Google's FREE training program for K-12 educators is back at the Google headquarters! Outstanding educators from across the country (and beyond!) are encouraged to apply for the Google Teacher Academy taking place on Wed, June 25, 2008.

Some of the most popular events of the annual CUE conference in Palm Springs are the hands-on workshops. Now you can enjoy hands-on workshops in Palm Springs year round! Cahuilla CUE, a local affiliate of CUE, Inc. is hosting monthly workshops at the Palm Springs Unified School District Professional Development Center (across the street from the conference center). Each workshop is a three-hour experience facilitated by a CUE Lead Learner on a Saturday morning (or afternoon). Topics include read/write web applications (such as blogs, wikis, and podcasts), multi-media applications (such as editing images, audio, and video), and exciting new applications from Google. Classes are offered for both Windows XP and Mac OS X.

Picasa and Photostory (Windows)

You've got to see it to learn it! Picasa allows teachers to organize, edit, and share digital images. Learn to use Picasa to create multi-media projects, to document (or showcase) student learning, and to help differentiate instruction, particularly for English learners. Photo Story is the easiest way to create a video slideshow of your still photos,  including titles, captions, a soundtrack, and student narration.  Both programs are free to download and use.

Price: $55 for CUE members, or $95 including a one-year CUE membership.

Notes: This workshop is offered through a partnership between LA Baptist High School and CUE. Current CUE membership is included in the registration process. CUE membership is non-refundable and non-transferable. Registration for CUEtoYOU workshops is also non-refundable. CUEtoYOU Professional Development Services, in partnership with the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) and the California State University Fullerton (CSUF), is offering hands-on full-day Podcasting Bootcamp workshops on April 28th (Mac) and May 5th (Windows). The cost for each workshop is only $80 for current CUE members!
